Grassroots Activism

CCFP/The Family Preservation Collective reaches out and engages our community through door knocking campaigns, distribution of materials on the child welfare system at the Staten Island Ferry, and participation in community and cultural events. We visit the Staten Island Job Center, and we speak at various nonprofits throughout Staten Island. We have trained staff and advocated for clients from Community Health Action Center, Project Hospitality, El Centro Hospitalidad, ROZA and other organizations that serve poor and immigrant populations. In the family court waiting room, we answer questions about the rights of parents and children, and refer parents to our hotline for further information and referrals.

When the Mayor's panel on the Judiciary declined reappointing former Judge Ralph Porzio to the family court bench on Staten Island we held a rally on the steps of Borough Hall.

Concerned Citizens for Family Preservation/Family Preservation Collective organized families to rally at City Hall in Manhattan in support of preventive services and against cuts in the city and state budget. We testify at City Council and State Assembly Hearings on the budget process and the rights of children and families.
